KEARNEY, Neb. -- More than 36 acres of land are set to be transformed into housing units and commercial buildings in a central Nebraska city.
The Kearney City Council approved the rezoning of more than 36 acres of agricultural land Tuesday night. The land is located on the northeast side of town, at the northwest corner of 39th St. and Antelope Ave.
According to documents, WinStar Enterprise will divide the land into 48 lots and build over two phases. The first phase contains 17.82 acres to be divided into 21 lots. The residential lots will range in size from 10,800 square feet to 12,164 square feet and the commercial lots will range in size from 31,038 square feet to 108,795 square feet. Preliminary designs show the development will include 38 residential lots over its two phases.
The development will be immediately east of the Meadows First Addition, which is in the early construction phase.
City council members voted unanimously to rezone the land.
