Ribbon cut on Hangar 55 apartments in Hastings
HASTINGS, Neb. – More housing options are now available for seniors in Hastings.
On Thursday, Perry Reid Properties and the Hastings Chamber cut the ribbon on the Hangar 55 apartment complex in West Hastings, which features 78 units of housing for residents age 55 and older.
The land where the apartments are now was purchased by Perry Reid in 2021 where the old Hastings Imperial mall still stood after closing its doors.
Three years later, more housing, in the form of studio, one bed, and two bed apartments are now available to rent.
The new residences are on the west side of town, which is seeing the most expansion in the city at this time.
"There's a shortage in housing like most communities in the state of Nebraska, so we're thankful to get this project open and operating," said Perry Reid General Counsel Tom Huston. "We have quite a few leases signed already, and our first residents will be moving in as soon as we have the final certificate of occupancy from the city of Hastings."
After residents begin to move in in June, Huston also says developers are expected to begin construction on another multi-family residence building adjacent to Hangar 55 sometime this fall.
