CENTRAL Neb. – One man is dead after his vehicle rolled into a ditch near Miller. 

Around midnight on Tuesday, deputies were called to the scene of a single vehicle crash approximately 7 miles north of Miller, NE on Highway 183 in Buffalo County. 

Authorities say an SUV, was traveling northbound and left the roadway, entered the west ditch, rolled, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. 

The driver has been identified as 47-year-old Brock Smedra of Miller. He was the only occupant of the vehicle and was life-flighted to a hospital in Kearney by helicopter.

Smedra ultimately died due to his injuries, and the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office has ordered an autopsy.   

Deputies were assisted by members of the Kearney Police Department, Miller Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Sumner (SEM) ambulance, Good Samaritan Hospital paramedics and AirCare medical helicopter.
