Man arrested for 133 pounds of marijuana, more in Dawson County

The Nebraska State Patrol arrested a 28-year-old man after finding more than 130 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 80.

LEXINGTON, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Patrol arrested a 28-year-old man after finding more than 130 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 80. 

An NSP trooper reported seeing a Cadillac CTS, driven by 28-year-old Jose Aparicio Mendoza of Mexico, heading east speeding near Dawson County on Friday around 7:40 a.m. 

The trooper reported smelling the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle during the traffic stop.

Authorities reportedly searched the vehicle finding more than 100 packages of marijuana weighing a total of 133 pounds.

Aparicio Mendoza was arrested and lodged at Dawson County Jail. 

He was arrested for possession of more than one pound of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver, and no driver's license.
