GIPD: Two arrested after using machete to exit locked storage unit

GRAND ISLAND, Neb.— A man and a woman are in custody after they were found in a storage unit.
According to Grand Island Police, officers were called because two people were attempting to cut through a metal door with a machete to get out of a locked storage unit.
A news release says Debra Meyers and Richard Brown were inside the storage unit when police arrived. Officers say Meyers tried to hide that Brown was with her, but they found him hiding behind a mattress.
Officials said Meyers was arrested for obstructing a police officer and Brown was arrested for a weapons violation and several active warrants.
It has not been released why the pair was in the locked storage unit.
