HASTINGS, Neb. — A man with local ties and decades of experience as a Boy Scouts executive will be the next person to lead the Hastings Museum Foundation.

The Foundation announced Thursday that it hired Dale D. Musgrave as its director. Musgrave, a Hastings College graduate, is returning to Adams County from Fargo, N. D. where he was Director of Support Services for the local council of the Boy Scouts of America. A news release says he has expertise in strategic planning, fundraising, staff leadership, planned giving, and financial management.

“I’m a Hastings College graduate and I love it here. My wife and my brother are Hastings College alumni, and even one of my two sons,” Musgrave said in a statement. “I didn’t fully realize how much I missed it until I got back here.”

Leaders with the museum and the foundation say they are thrilled to hire Musgrave.

“He checks all the boxes,” Hastings Museum Foundation board president Matt Baack said. “His education, experience, and approach to development are exactly what we were looking for. And he already knows and loves the community.”

“The next several years will deliver big changes to the Museum,” Hastings Museum director Teresa Kreutzer-Hodson said. “Right now we’re working on enhancing visitor experiences and getting the building ready for all new exhibits on the second floor.”

Musgrave’s parents, Dale F. and Elizabeth, live in Hastings, as does his brother and sister in law, Tom and Michelle Musgrave. His wife, Jerelyn, is still in North Dakota for now, but she’ll move this summer and already has a position as a fifth grade teacher for this fall at Lincoln Elementary School.
