GRAND ISLAND, NE - The Grace Abbott Park is getting new playground.

Parks and Recreation Director Todd McCoy says the existing outdated  playground will be replaced by a brand new one that will offer new  modern features. Among the new features are the rubberized safety fall zone, it will be handicap accessible and it will have sidewalks.

Director McCoy says that “kids around the neighborhood will just have a  nice new playground that they’ll get to use and I think that makes people want to come to the parks, and makes the experience even better, so I think it will be really appreciate it”

The new project is expected to begin and be completed in 2023. It’s expected to cost $145,000. Funding will come from a combination of Food and Beverage Funding and from the Community Development Block Grant.

Proposals for the construction project are still getting accepted till November 1.
