HASTINGS, Neb. -- In the wake of a historic December storm, a unique discovery was made in central Nebraska.

On Monday, the Hastings Police Department was called about a pelican in the Adams County community. The department said in a Facebook post that it was discovered near 2nd and Laird.

HPD says it doesn't know if it was displaced during the storm, but Nebraska Game and Parks was sent to retrieve and care for the bird.
