Hasting's resident Janet Louise Sinsel Hinrichs, 84, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at The Kensington, Evergreen Court Memory Care, Hastings, NE after a long battle with dementia.

 

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 19, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Chaplain John Mueller officiating. The burial will be at the Glenvil Cemetery in Glenvil. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with the family present Wednesday, December 18, and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

 

Janet was born July 3, 1940, in Minden, NE to Albert and Nellie Sinsel. She grew up on her family farm and graduated from Minden High School in 1958. Janet was united in marriage to Richard Alan Hinrichs in Fort Hood, TX. This union was blessed with two children, Michael and Cheryl. Cheryl was taken too early in life at the age of 16. Janet was a housewife and was the Assistant Manager at Pat’s Hallmark Cards & Gifts. She never met a stranger and always wore a smile. Her favorite indulgence in life was laughter.

 

Janet enjoyed spending time on her farm with those closest and dearest to her. Laughter and friendship filled her most enjoyable days. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping and fishing with her family and loved Nebraska football and volleyball.

 

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; daughter, Cheryl; sisters, Deloris (Duke) and Betty (Earl); and special friend, Jim James.
