Longtime KPS special education director to retire
KEARNEY, Neb. — A longtime leader at Kearney Public Schools is set to retire.
The district announced Wednesday that Director of Special Education Melisa Dobish will retire at the end of the school year. She had served in this role since 2011. A news release credits Dobish with creating an inclusive environment where all students are given the tools and opportunities to succeed, regardless of their challenges.
"As I look toward retirement, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible people I’ve had the privilege of working alongside over the years,” Dobish said in a statement. “Working with such dedicated educators, families, and students has brought me great joy. I am proud of all we’ve accomplished over the last fifteen years.”
As previously announced, Sara Paider will replace Dobish. Paider is currently the PK-5 Director of Education.
