Grand Island woman killed in I-80 crash
The Nebraska State Patrol said a section of Interstate 80 was closed for approximately four hours Monday following a deadly head-on collision.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Nebraska State Patrol said a section of Interstate 80 was closed for approximately four hours Monday following a deadly head-on collision.
Around 3:40 p.m., NSP was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash near mile marker 319, east of the Phillips exit in Hamilton County. The preliminary investigation shows that a sedan was westbound on I-80 when it crossed the median and struck an eastbound semi.
The driver of the car has been identified as Velia Venegas, 21, of Grand Island. NSP said she was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
