KEARNEY, Neb. — A near two-hour weather delay was apparently exactly what the South Team needed on Saturday night.

The North Team scored less than 20 seconds into the game and was threatening to find the end zone on its second drive before a lightening strike brought the Nebraska Shrine Bowl to a halt.

When play resumed nearly two hours later, with a running clock rule implemented, the South team scored 17 unanswered points to win the game 17-7.

Lincoln Southwest's Cal Newell won Offensive Player of the Game honors by rushing for 70 yards and touchdown on 8 carries.

Ayden Barnby of Papillion-La Vista South was the Defensive Player of the Game with 4 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and a sack.
