Grand Island Police find cash, drugs & gun while assisting with probation call

A 17-year-old boy was sent to a juvenile detention center after police found two large sums of money located in his pants pockets.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A 17-year-old boy was sent to a juvenile detention center after police found two large sums of money located in his pants pockets.

Grand Island Police were called to the 300 blocks of west 15th on Friday to assist with a probation call.

While on the scene, officers located multiple runaway juveniles inside the residence. One of the juveniles refused to identify himself so he was detained. While police were searching for potential weapons, officers located the cash. GIPD said the 17-year-old had over $1,000 on him.

During the investigation, marijuana packaged in a manner consistent for resale along with a 22 Caliber handgun were found on the teen that had been hiding.

He was taken to the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center. The two other juveniles were released.
