Police arrest Harrison woman after scratching Chadron officer during struggle
A Harrison woman was arrested Thursday night after she struggled with Chadron police who were trying to stop her from driving away from a downtown parking lot because they believed she was drunk.
42-year old Bonny Reece was held on $10,000 bond on felony assault on a peace officer and 3 misdemeanors: 2nd-offense DUI, refusal to take a preliminary breath test, refusal to take a chemical test, and obstruction of a peace officer.
Chadron Police Sgt Patrick Young says he and officer Zach Klemp made contact with Reece about 10:30 pm Thursday after she’d been trying to drive away.
As they attempted to determine if she was sober, Reece tried to walk away. Sgt Young says they stopped her, but then they struggled and Reece scratched one of them on the neck – at which point she was taken into custody.
The Chadron FVD ambulance was called at her request, but then she declined to be taken to the hospital. Instead she was taken to the Dawes County jail and booked.
