Fire engulfs home in Fairbury
FAIRBURY, NE — A southeast Nebraska home is destroyed after a fire on Wednesday night.
The Fairbury Rural Fire Department responded to calls of a fire shortly after 7:00 p.m. Flames were taking over the home on the north side of the intersection of Highway 136 and G streets when firefighters arrived.
The Fire Department says anybody who was in the home was able to escape safely.
Two hours after the blaze was reported, the fire was considered knocked down but firefighters were still unable to get to the basement to fight fire there. They had not started their overhaul of the scene yet.
There is no word yet about the cause of the fire. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was on scene and assisted with traffic control.
