Fairbury Cemetery fundraising signs approved by commissioners
FAIRBURY, NE — Two large signs advertising the fundraising efforts to repave the roads at the Fairbury Cemetery will soon be installed.
The Jefferson County Commissioners approved the Fairbury Cemetery Association’s request to put up the signs during their meeting Tuesday morning. Mike Ellsbury brought a scale model of the sign to the meeting. He built 12-foot easels that will hold maps of the proposed improvements and a dial measuring the fundraising efforts.
The signs were approved to be placed on the northeast side of the courthouse square and outside of the cemetery along PWF road.
Ellsbury says the Cemetery Association has raised about half of its $400,000 goal for the project. The roads at the cemetery have not been redone since 1948.
The signs could be in place as soon as next week.
