NE, October 8, 2021 ? JDRF One Walk will kick off its annual event on Sunday, October 10th at Mahoney State Park in Ashland, NE aiming to raise more than $575,000 to help fund critically needed type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.

The event, organized by JDRF Nebraska-Southwest Iowa Chapter brings together supporters from Omaha, Lincoln, Council Bluffs, and surrounding areas, including teams representing local businesses and families who share JDRF’s vision to create a world without T1D.

“We are proud to chair this year’s JDRF One Walk to help fund further research and support ongoing efforts to prevent, treat and ultimately cure type 1 diabetes,” said Jenny and Jared Hensley, JDRF One Walk Event Chairs. “We have been involved with JDRF since our daughter Ruby was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 9. The advances being made based on JDRF-funded research have fundamentally changed our lives and have a positive impact on numerous families in our community.”

“This is a great day for families and friends to get together in support of type 1 diabetes research, whether you know someone affected by T1D or just want to make a difference,” said Chris Dunn, JDRF Development Manager. “We are grateful for the incredible support of our community, who are doing their part to make life better for more than 1.6 million people in the United States who have this serious disease.”

JDRF encourages people of all ages driven to support a great cause to participate in our modified in-person JDRF One Walk this year. Because the community’s safety is the #1 priority, the special format for this year's event is listed on the website: walk.jdrf.org/omaha.

Registration and masks are required to attend. JDRF gratefully acknowledges 2021 JDRF One Walk Community Partners, Hy-Vee, and Sapp Brothers.
