Ogallala ends Sidney's season at area legion baseball tournament
ALLIANCE - Ogallala scored three runs in the top of the seventh to seal a 7-3 win over Sidney in an elimination game at the Class B Area 7 Legion Baseball Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Bower-Shankland Field in Alliance.
Sidney evened the game at two in the bottom of the fourth inning when Jakob Meyer drove-in a run on a ground out. Ogallala broke the tie in the top of the fifth on an RBI double from Aydan Halligan and never looked back to advance to another elimination game vs. Gering at 6 p.m. Monday.
Ogallala's three runs in the seventh came on singles by Halligan and Kaden Vogl, and a fielder's choice from Ian Shaw. They finished with nine hits in the game.
Vogl started on the mound for Ogallala. He threw five innings, allowed four hits, three runs and struck out five.
Sam Hashman allowed nine hits and seven runs over seven innings for Sidney. He struck out five and walked one.
Sidney tallied five total hits. Paul Houser and Austin Wolfe each managed two hits.
Sidney is eliminated from the tournament and their season is over.
Alliance defeated Gering in the tournament semi-finals, 4-2.
