Timmerman dominates, Beatrice shuts down Crete 9-1

BEATRICE, NE — Sophomore pitcher Tucker Timmerman struck out 12 batters and Beatrice dominated Crete 9-1 at Christenson Field Tuesday evening.
Timmerman recorded all but three of the outs he managed over five innings via the punch out. The Nebraska commit earned the win for the Orangemen (7-0) after having thrown just two innings on the season before Tuesday. The right-hander allowed just two hits and two walks as he cruised by the Cardinals (3-6).
Beatrice provided immediate run support for Timmerman. They tallied two runs on a hit, a hit batter and a pair of errors in the first inning against Crete starter Braden Schmeckpeper.
The Orangemen added to their advantage in the third inning. Max Reis, Caleb Jobman and Noah Jobman each notched hits on the way to a three-run inning.
Errors plagued the Cardinals all game long. Crete committed multiple defensive miscues in the fourth in addition to allowing two walks and a double. Beatrice plated two more runs to lead 7-0.
Beatrice knocked in a couple additional runs in the sixth against reliever Jaxson Dittmer. Austin Burroughs smacked an RBI double and Noah Jobman knocked in the final run with a single.
Crete tallied its lone run in the seventh. Schmeckpeper launched a triple to left-center field to tally the RBI. It was his second extra-base hit of the game.
Beatrice hosts Plattsmouth on Thursday. You can watch that game on News Channel Nebraska TV. The broadcast will start online-only at 5:30 with the TV station picking up the game in progress at 6:30.
Crete travels to face Bennington on Thursday.
