Sidney city council to consider street project bids at next meeting
SIDNEY, NE — When the Sidney city council gets together on Tuesday evening, they'll have some decisions to make for street projects in the town.
The city council will consider bids made for the 13th Avenue improvement project and Elm Street water and street improvement project.
The 13th Ave. project would stretch from Illinois to Pine Street. The Elm Street project stretches from 13th to 17th Avenue. The projected start time on the tasks varies depending on which company's bid the council accepts.
Both projects are part of the city's one-year street improvement plan for 2021. Improvements to Link 17J on the east side of Sidney is also in that plan, but the state is handling bids for that project. The state will cover 80% of the cost for the Link 17J improvements while the city handles the other 20%.
The council will also hold a public hearing on approving a local match for public transportation assistance. The local match is a requirement for a grant that provides the city with state funding to operate its Dial-a-Ride system for two more years.
The city will discuss a new fire mutual aid agreement and will see a presentation from the Public Alliance for Community Energy.
