OMAHA, Neb. -- For the first time in Omaha history, quite possibly Nebraska state history as well, a father and daughter are serving on the same county board at the same time.

Commissioner Mike Boyle is joined Tuesday by his recently elected daughter, Maureen—who also works as an Omaha OB-GYN.

Commissioner Maureen Boyle was elected in November, after saying that she sensed her recently departed mother was urging her to run.

Anne Boyle, a former Public Service Commissioner and head of the Nebraska Democratic Party, died in 2019 after a lifetime in politics.

Mike Boyle is the former mayor of Omaha and a private practice lawyer.
