Grand Island boys basketball games postponed due to COVID-19
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - COVID-19 has wiped out Grand Island Senior High's boys basketball games this weekend. The school district made the announcement on Tuesday as a result of four positive cases on the team.
The Islanders have stopped all basketball-related activities, and the varsity and junior varsity boys basketball programs will remain on break until Dec. 28.
Friday night’s varsity and JV boys basketball games against Lincoln East have been postponed to Jan. 12. And Saturday night’s games against Bellevue West are postponed to Feb. 2.
But the girl’s varsity and JV games against Lincoln East and Bellevue West will be played as scheduled this weekend.
Saturday's highly anticipated girls/boys doubleheader between Grand Island and Bellevue West was scheduled to be aired by News Channel Nebraska. As a result of the Grand Island boys postponements, NCN will now be carrying the Saturday boys game between Ashland-Greenwood and Milford instead.
