LINCOLN - Lincoln Police arrested two people who allegedly used fraudulent checks to buy cars from dealerships and fled from officers during a traffic stop.
LPD says on Monday afternoon, officers were called to Baxter Auto on a report of check fraud.
Police say two people came into the dealership and wrote a check for more than $54,000.
It was later found it was a starter check and there was no money in the account.
LPD says the couple also did the same at another dealership.
Officers identified 19-year-old Ashley Lovstad, and 21-year-old Benjamin Brantner as the two people responsible.
Lovstad was arrested for theft by deception and avoiding arrest.
Brantner was arrested for an active warrant for felony theft and resisting arrest.
