LINCOLN - Nebraska hunters hoping to snag a mountain lion will have to wait until next season.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission announced Wednesday that the 2020 mountain lion hunting season in the Pine Ridge is now closed.

Officials say a total of seven mountain lions have been harvested.

Season one closed on February 5th when the limit of four was met.

Three mountain lions, two male and one female were harvested during the north sub-unit Auxiliary Season.

The harvest of mountain lions allows the population to remain healthy.

This reduces the population density in the Pine Ridge to one similar to that of other states that allow mountain lion hunting.
