STANTON COUNTY - A Sioux City man is recovering from injuries after the semi he was driving tipped over in northeast Nebraska.

It happened just after 2 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 57 in Stanton County.

Sheriff's officials say Jamie Birkeland, 50, was northbound on the highway when he lost control of the semi and the trailer flipped onto its side.

The overturned semi blocked the highway in both directions for over two hours.

Birkeland was extricated from the semi and taken to Faith Regional Health Services Hospital in Norfolk for treatment of a possible head injury.
