Aragon, Reifeis Conclude Play in Tulsa

Tulsa, Okla.—Claire Reifeis and Jessica Aragon concluded play at the ITA All-American Championships on Tuesday. The two Huskers were selected by the ITA to compete in the singles tournament, hosted by the University of Tulsa.
On Saturday morning, Aragon dropped her opening match in the pre-qualifying draw to Lilian Poling of Boise State. Aragon won the first set 7-5 before falling 6-4, 6-1 in the final two sets. In the 2019 regular season, Poling led the Broncos in singles and doubles going 24-10 and 21-8, respectively.
In Monday's qualifying round draw, senior Claire Reifeis defeated Kaitlin Staines of Tennessee. After dropping the first set 6-1, Reifeis came back and to earn the win over the 2019 doubles All-American, 6-1, 6-4.
In the second round of qualifying singles, Reifeis dropped her match to Sabina Machalova of Ole Miss 6-3, 6-2. In 2019, Machalova earned five wins over ranked opponents and finished the spring season with an ITA ranking of No. 94.
The Huskers will continue fall play at the Waco ITF on October 13-14 in Waco, Texas.
