Honoring Two Veterans
PLATTE CENTER, NE (News Channel Nebraska) - Their legacy will continue to live on.
As family and community members gathered for the unveiling of a memorial, dedicated two veterans.
"It means a lot...it does" says Eddie Siebler's nephew, Calvin Siebler. "He earned it and so did the other one who was honored today."
Larry Novak known lovingly as "Tuffy" who was killed in the Vietnam War and Eddie Siebler who was killed in World War II were honored today in Platte Center.
Close family members for both Novak and Siebler were present at the unveiling.
"It's an honor," says Larry Novak's sister, Nancy Novak. "I guess there's no words. I don't know the words to say because it's just a beautiful monument."
Both Novak and Siebler’s family members say it is an honor to have their respective family members remembered in a way that community members now have the opportunity to know a little bit more about the bravery of these two men.
"It is a real honor to see this," says Eddie Siebler's niece, Dolores Dunker. " It brings tears to my eyes to know he's honored like this."
