BEATRICE - Earthwork has been underway and foundation work will start soon on a $19-million building at Southeast Community College that will have classrooms, health and science labs as well as a multi-functional room.

College officials say it will enhance educational and growth opportunities…and provide conference area for local businesses for training opportunities.

The lasts remnants of Hoover Hall…an old dorm facility once located on the site, were being hauled away this week.

Students from Health, Arts and Sciences, Business and Criminal Justice programs will use the classrooms. Construction is expected to be completed by August of 2020.

Meanwhile, work continues on a new residential facility named Homestead Hall….and a nearby dining facility.

This fall, Southeast Community College changes from a quarter calendar to semesters.
