Huskers end week one of fall camp with fan day, Big Red Preview
LINCOLN, Neb. - The Huskers put a bow on week one of fall camp, with day one of full pads and they did it with Husker Nation in the building.
The Huskers held their annual Fan Day on Saturday, with thousands filling the Hawks Championship Center for meet and greet’s with Coach Matt Rhule and their favorite Husker players.
Then came practice, sponsored by the 1890 Initiative.
Matt Rhule said week one’s a success, but there’s always room to get better.
"I think this weeks been excellent," Rhule said. "I think they've all worked hard.... We're not anywhere where we need to be, but I've been really really pleased with the effort and attitude every single day... Clear step in the right direction."
While the night featured an audience for practice, Rhule says the goal remained the same for the Huskers - lock in and get better.
"To me, we have so much work to do, and this is a really business-oriented team... And I want the guys to have fun, dap people up at the end and all that, but we to get better at football while we're out there," Rhule said. "That's unbelievably important to me, the fans are unbelievably important to me, and that stadium is very important to me and so is winning home field and it's the first time under the lights at Memorial Stadium so I expect a certain standard while we're out there."
Nebraska resumes fall camp on Monday after an off day on Sunday.
The Huskers kick off the year on Aug. 28th taking on Cincinnati at GEHA Field at Arrowhead in Kansas City.
