HARTINGTON - In the first ever Greater Northeast Activities Conference title game, the Elkhorn Valley Falcons overpowered the West Holt Huskies 37-22 and stay unbeaten.

The Falcons, ranked #1 in our NCN rankings in Class C2 entered the game with a perfect 19-0 record. They opened the tournament with wins over Plainview and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge earlier in the week.

For West Holt, they held the tournament's #2 seed with a 15-5 record entering the game. The Huskies took down Lutheran High Northeast and Hartington-Newcastle to reach the championship.

Elkhorn Valley opened the game on a 10-0 run, with Rutjens and Broberg knocking down a pair of threes. At the end of the first, the Falcons led 12-4.

West Holt began to keep pace with Elkhorn Valley, grabbing more offensive rebounds, but not being able to turn them into points.

The Falcons defense was excellent at forcing turnovers and turning them into transition buckets.

At halftime, Elkhorn Valley held a 22-9 lead.

Offenses struggled to find their rhythm in the third quarter, as each team scored 7 points to keep the Falcons in front by 13.

The Huskies did cut the deficit to 9 points in the third quarter, but were unable to come back any further.

Elkhorn Valley outlasted West Holt for the 37-22 win and the first ever GNAC championship.

Karlee Broberg scored 13 points to lead Elkhorn Valley, followed by 8 from Cameron Rutjens.

Monica Chavez and Kayli Monasterio each had 6 points for West Holt.
